7/17/2009 - We had beautiful pink aster lillies finally starting to bloom in our garden in front of the kitchen where the new table and chairs are that James brought home. They are so beautiful, light pink and delicate looking. It's a bit strange; however, because I always thought they bloomed in the spring-time or around Easter, but they've just started blooming. The ones near the living room window have never bloomed and are just as large if not larger as well as the yellow bearded irises. I don't know why. LLO'C

7/17/2009 - These are a few of the beautiful canna lillies that Chris planted throughout the complex. There are two white crepe myrtles in the rear with coleas in between them. There's cat tails (pampas grass) in front by the flags and wagon, he's got three or four ornamental ferns in the dark hallway in pots and these, of course, I had to get pictures of because they were just recently planted and these were the only ones that bloomed and were by apartments 51 and 53. Although the rainbow colored canvas larger umbrellas that were destroyed in the storm were more colorful and vibrant poolside, they decided to go with smaller, brown woven umbrellas to cover the terra-cotta colored tables. The price tags are still hanging on the umbrellas by the cedar trees. LLO'C

7/17/2009 - Down the walkway toward apartments 59 and 61 and upstairs. Chris, our new maintenance man and his wife and children moved into 61 and we kept our apartment. You can see the work slowly, yet continuously going on as it can be done after the storm and in between weather. Lately between the hot and humid weather, having to make money to support bills and dealing with recent needed rain, work was slow, but they've been keeping the apartments clean and nice and groomed. 7/17/2009 - Didn't realize that regardless of the fact of whether you cut the dead branches off of the bottom or not, a beautiful old date palm will continue to grow in its' own fashion. This is such a beautiful tree. It's right outside of our apartment and I just love to look up and see it beside the ornamental pear trees in the courtyard. LLO'C

7/17/2009 - Sarah is behind James' computer in her night-gown, staying inside and trying to stay cool and comfortable and I was trying to keep her activity levels and bathing in a tub with potential soap in her eye at a minimum. If you look closely, it was red, swollen and she was taking eye-drops three times per day and had to be switched and then eventually taken off of her antibiotic due to massive diarrhea. I determined with her that it was the antibiotic because it stopped after we stopped administering the dosages. LLO'C

7/31/2009 - Terrible day, two un-identified bank charges after having to deal with un-identifiable charges at $1.00 each which over-drew our account and we had to fight to get things straight. Trying to call the bank, deal with canceling an order for a raincoat Sarah for school and an undergarment for me without straps that aren't in stock and the website wouldn't let me, Sarah wet herself a few minutes before our ride was to arrive at 12:33 p.m., and to top it all off, after getting the mail and it'd already rained, by the time we started heading to the front of the complex to catch our ride, it was raining hard and lightning. I brought the umbrella, was trying to talk on the phone with the bank, get her in the cab and get her buckled in and get the charges disputed which the bank wouldn't help me with and referred me back to a number which ultimately was the initial number I called that transferred me to the section which was transferring me back because they couldn't help me and the lady said that wasn't true at all. We got to the doctor and Sarah wet herself again and had to sit in a wet diaper until the she was seen. Her surgery was a success thank goodness and we told him that the meds were discontinued and that she still had a little redness, but not the same as it was in the beginning. She's done just fine. We left, went to the bathroom, changed her and had to wait a while for the cab due to the wet roads. The number they gave me ended up being cab 110 and they picked us up along with another lady with a wheelchair IV and walker, but when she got out, all she had was her walker. Her friend must have taken the wheelchair with her. Sarah and I rode in the back. He went to the mall and picked up another lady in a scooter dressed in purple and put her in the back with Sarah's stroller folded up and then we had to keep going back and forth twice to the same place. First to pick up and drop off before the lady with the walker and then to the same place to pick up a gentleman who sat in back with us.

In addition to all of the things that went on trying to get home, it really didn't bother us and we made the best of things, it just bothered me that there was room in the middle for Sarah even though she was sleeping and the van was not equipped with a seat belt in the middle. We had too many people in the van for safety and Sarah had to ride seat belted in my lap and the crush from an impact could have killed us both immediately with serious internal injuries to her and then with her slamming into me. I was very seriously concerned being that I had an I don't know how many pound electric (heavy metal) scooter behind us. I was more than concerned when I asked where the seat-belt in the middle was and he said that they don't always equip the METROLift Vans with that equipment. Read the captions on the first two pictures for the rest of the story. We got home late. Hadn't eaten all day, haven't been eating well. Had to put the money into the bank from Sarah's money and wait to get it back when it's refunded. We have just a few very simple needs and don't want to harm anyone. She will be starting school soon and things have to go smoothly. We're out of food, some personal grooming products, need to do laundry and have no money or the detergent we need, and have a lot of bills that we're behind on. We have nothing in the bank to be able to make a bulk purchase of laptops of systems to work with and spent days working 24-7 loading systems to sell and the other day was warranty work and selling one machine to put money in the bank only to have half taken out and not to be refunded for a couple of days for something that was not ordered. I don't know what happened today, but something was definitely not right. LLO'C

7/31/2009 - Waiting on our METROLift van ride back to the apartment, decided to take a few pictures since dad had to work today and couldn't go to this post-op visit. The one that we had scheduled on the 23rd turned out to be a fluke being that Dr. Gonzales was still out of town and James missed an entire day of work. I went and Sarah's surgery was a success and she'll return in October to for her routine check-up and dilation. This was what the sky looked like when it was more clear. We left in striking lightning and heavy, pouring rain. We got home and cars were pulling up behind us at the gate honking their horns, a silver Lexus and a red truck and we were getting out I had to get Sarah off my lap, get my purse and her bag with drinks, anti-seizure meds, pull-up pants, change of clothes, hairbrush, pens, keys to the house and wipes and the driver was getting the stroller. We still had one gentleman and the lady with the scooter in the van. I was getting Sarah out and she fell on the concrete in the apartments driveway trying to rush and into the muddy water, concrete and on her legs. The driver helped to get her up and in the stroller. We got her in and let the other cars go around after they saw what happened and the van went on and the same man that was at the gate when we left was there to let us in when we got home. LLO'C

7/31/2009 - This is the plant that was in the planter between the two sliding glass doors that has its' own little entryway. You have to enter and exit through two sets of heavy glass sliding doors and this is the new variety of beautiful ivy with (I can't recall the ornamental in between) in between the doors of Building 3 of Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital at 915 Gessner. 7/31/2009 - Don't smoke anymore. Good thing and costs a heck of a lot less. I figure that if I added up four packs of cigarettes a day (even with specials), I could have afforded to shop at Dillards, Macy's and not have affected anyone - and had my driver's license and a car. At least that's what James told me when I stopped. He told me to think of all of the money that I'd be saving that I could spend on other things that I needed and wanted. I was just bored, waiting on a cab to come and bring us back to our apartment and it was getting a bit humid and hot in the sun, so we went back under the shade and just sat down and waited. LLO'C

7/31/2009 - This was taken with zoom on and didn't realize it waiting on our ride. Maybe I'm the only one that sees some form of artistic merit in the picture even though it's not an entire face shot. Her features are so pronounced and her ivory skin sets off the little hair that's not curling from the nasty weather. We were waiting on our ride and she was bored and tired and hungry and we had to wait to get home to eat a tv dinner and pot pie which was breakfast, lunch and dinner for us both. We went all day with nothing and have been eating Ramen Noodles and Hot Dogs for weeks. We got a new refrigerator and haven't had much food at all since then. LLO'C

7/3/2009 - Arrived a few days ago, but I waited to fill out her registration and "birth certificate". Her Aunt Susan and her second cousin, Lesley both had dolls and maybe she will like them too. She put the first one in her arms so gently and held it like a real baby - very carefully. I usually wouldn't have gotten this, but she got a stimulus spending check to supplement her monthly funds and after bills were paid, we waited until her birthday and I went ahead and got her a few things that are useful, able to be appreciated, able to assist her in learning and to help her (when it cools off here in Texas) with exercising and using the muscles in her legs and rest of her body and putting that connection together where she can work her lower extremities better. I have faith that it's possible. We named her doll Aslyn Victoria Marie Norred. This was the only one we could afford of the series; even though they have several beautiful ones. Maybe later we'll get another for her, who knows. It's darling, however and I'm charmed - that's for sure and I'm not the baby doll type. We got her a bike, big wheeler, clothes, puzzles, art supplies, drink cups, a couple of items to keep food and other items off her school uniforms when school starts, as well as new clothes in the three sizes she's between right now in different brands (you know how that goes). I'm a pretty good shopper. I take my time, go for the best bargains at the best times between stores, and don't get more than we can afford. The sad part is that after all was ordered and started to ship in via mail order (saving us gas and time shopping - when most can't be found in stores anyway - and we have great delivery people who work very hard. ), Kenneth left, work has slowed down and we are struggling to pay rent, electricity, and get groceries. I will do my best to be a technician and mommy and clean and keep house and keep and make appointments and deal with everything in between like sales, advertisement, licensing, taxes, and what I have to do.

7/3/2009 - Sarah is inspecting her first big-girl bicycle with training wheels. I wish I'd have had a video of me trying to put it together. I surely didn't do the brakes and let James handle that and I got all of the hard parts, but got confused between the right and left pedals and had to let him put those on. I also wished I would have had a picture or video of the first time that he put her on the bike. She had a grin from ear to ear and was in sheer delight. She was so happy that she had a little dimple showing on the right hand side of her face. She is the most precious and darling little girl and we will succeed. Things will work out all of the way around. I would love to show her a great 4th of July from 4-9:30 p.m. in the Park listening to music, eating, drinking, riding rides and seeing the most spectacular fireworks display. We haven't been anywhere like that as a family or a couple since we moved here in March of 2001. I hear the fireworks display here in Texas makes the one in Baton Rouge by the levee near the Huey P. Long Bridge look shabby. We saw one at the Steppenwolf concert on the beach laying on the hood of the car one fourth, but this one's supposed to put all of them to shame and we need to get out before surgery.

7/3/2009 - I called my dad during an appointment I had and told him that we got her a Big Wheeler for her birthday. It was only about $40.00 and we gave her out-grown tricycle to the little Mexican boys in Apartment 59, down the way. They can master the Roadmaster bike because Sarah outgrew it and they're about the right size. My dad thought it was some kind of toy that would get her hurt but I had to explain that it was only about two inches off the ground and she didn't know how to peddle it yet and was still constellation. I know that she likes it because she gets on and tries to push it with her feet and roll forward and backward and rock it, but we'll have to get a cool day and figure out how the heck to get her to learn to put her stiff legs on the peddles and move them to get them worked out to do what it takes to make the bike and big wheel go. I got both because of the direction that she will have to move her legs exercising and building muscles in both directions. Kept the gait trainer because she is just now getting almost large enough for it's size. I have a couple of large bicycle hooks to put it on the wall in the closet and store it where I can get it down and fold and put it back up easily. She loves her new things and is trying to understand how to make them work. These aren't the best pictures. The good ones were when we didn't have the camera handy and were just finished putting them together. She's in one of her little summer outfits that is supposed to be a dress, but I make her wear shorts underneath. Even though times and styles have changed, I still feel that she doesn't have to reveal herself as an adult at six years old and that she is dressed like a young-lady, in cute clothing that doesn't cost that much and is appropriate for her style as well as for the reputation of she and the entire family as a whole. 7/2/2009 - Just playing around in old clothes in the house on a hot day. James Carl came over for a court date and went with James. Mom called and talked to Kenneth to make sure that he was ok. He's mad and sad and depressed and alright because in a way he's assured, so I'll accept all of the tones of his voice. I have to look after Sarah, however because she is the priority. Eye surgery is coming up and I'm very nervous even though I know that things will go well. I can only hope that her neurosurgeons and others are on call in the hospital at that time just in case. I'm not distrusting anyone, just want her to be ok and want perfect vision. This side of the family has no vision problems and are very happy. LLO'C

7/2/2009 - Dad and James came home from court and Sarah is so happy that they are here. She's been a bit down since Kenneth left and we both need something to lift our spirits. She has a comic book. She likes comics too. She's got such a cute little smile. Dad and James went to sleep for a while and napped and James left while his dad was gone after he found out that his payroll check had cleared. He left us with a box of Macaroni and Cheese to eat. Dad got up this morning on 7/3/2009 and made Spam and Scrambled Egg Sandwiches for us for breakfast. LLO'C

7/2/2009 - I changed Sarah into another outfit and was going to stop and get some more clothes hangers to neaten our closet and she and T.C. snoozed together on the clean clothes on the bed before I could do anything. Thy were so cute that I had to get the camera and get a shot. I got James up from his chair to see this. We didn't get the hangers, I took Sarah's piggy bank up to Randall's to use the coin machine to turn $18.70 in change + whatever else didn't go down the bin and wasn't counted into $17.04 which the line was so long in customer service there was nothing I could do but take the $9.09 that I had left in my wallet and what the machine wouldn't take and deposit it into WaMu / Chase and give the ticket to James. He told me to just transfer what we had into the account and he would take the ticket and use it within 24 hours. I was going to use this money for the 4th of July. LLO'C

We sat down and cut out stars of all sizes and glued them to a circle that we cut out first. Red, white and blue stars and then we glittered them. We pinned it on the door to dry outside and then went out to straighten out the ones that were bending up a bit. It turned out nice for the occasion. 7/1/2009 - I have to wash dishes. Just bathed Sarah and myself, took out some trash, waiting on the mail, took a few pictures, need to scrounge up something to eat - business has slowed down and needs to pick up. Got James coffee ready for after work and got a few pictures of Sarah in her cool over-alls in the hallway when I came back inside. It's so hot, and I have to get a money order to pay a bill, but I'm scared to take her out in this heat again to walk to the store to get the money order and then again to mail it. I may wait until James gets home. I can't drive, have no way to do what I need to sometimes, and it just gets more than frustrating. LLO'C

6/29/09-Pictures of Sarah in one of her new shirts with a watermelon theme for picnics during the summer and the 4th of July and all of that good stuff. It's cool and comfortable and we got a hair-piece to match. She had to go to the eye doctor for her Pre-Op Meeting for Eye Surgery for Sarah coming up soon. They took pictures there too. LLO'C
